National Parks and Historical Sights

Nebraska has many historical sights that many people like to visit when they have the chance to go to Nebraska. The most beautiful place that I saw while researching was a place called Chimney Rock Site.

Additional Topics: Omaha Zoo

I love the zoo!!!!!

Did you know that Omaha, Nebraska has a really cool zoo, and one of my close friends, Michiyo, has been there!!! So I sat down and asked her a few questions about her day there

Nkemdi-  Why did you decide to go to the Omaha zoo?
Michiyo- I went there because my friends live in Omaha, and they wanted to show me their zoo. I've been to a few other zoos in California, and Japan, so I really wanted to see what kinds of animals they had in Omaha.

Nkemdi- What was different and cool about the Omaha Zoo?
Michiyo- The Omaha Zoo had some really cool structures where the animals stayed. My favorite ones were the butterfly house, the reptile house, the amazon exhibit, and the place where the giraffes were. In the butterfly house, you were able to walk through a glass house, and sometimes the butterfly would land on you. Of course you weren't allowed to touch it, because the oils on a human hand would ruin the butterfly's wings. It was absolutely beautiful. The reptile house was really really scary, because the room was really dark, and all the reptiles looked really scary. The scariest was the albino alligator. The amazon had a lot of cool animals like monkeys and hippos! But my favorite animal is the giraffe, so i was so happy to see them. They were so big, and my friends dad works at the zoo, so I was able to pet them! What a dream come true.

Nkemdi: Out of all the zoos you have been to, which one is your favorite?
Michiyo: I love all the zoos I've been to because they are all so different and they all have different animals. But Omaha zoo is definitely up there on my list.

Here are some pictures Michiyo took while at the Omaha Zoo!

Fun Facts

Nebraska is a really interesting state! There are a ton of facts that I didn't know about Nebraska. I'm going to list a few of them right here!

Did you know that 911 was developed in Lincoln, Nebraska? Now it's used all over the country. I know that because I was taught to use it too when there is an emergency.

Who likes Kool-Aid!? Well, thanks to Edwin E. Perkins, all of us have been able to enjoy it on a hot day since 1927. And guess what! Edwin E. Perkins is from Nebraska!

Want to know a really weird fact!? In Blue Hill, Nebraska, no female wearing a hat that would scare a timid person can be seen eating onions in public!!!

These are some facts about Nebraska water related: Nebraska has more underground water reserves than any other state in the continental U.S. and Nebraska has more miles of river than any other state.

My most favorite fact that i came across is that Nebraska's state insect is a honeybee. Thank the lord that it isn't a spider!! I hate spiders, but honeybees make yummy honey, so I'm glad Nebraska decided to make that their insect!

Those are some of my favorite facts about Nebraska!!!
